I bought my Pavoni in Florence, Italy (for [...] US dollars) about ten years ago, so I thought I could finally give this machine a fair review. I have been making coffee for my wife and myself every single morning and many evenings with it since, and while it does need new gaskets and a few small parts every now and again (which I do myself / it's really not that hard), I don't think that any other espresso machine would have lasted this long (I figure I have pulled over 10,000 shots)...and it still looks like new and is making better coffee than ever. It took me about 2 months to figure the best way to pull a shot and get the foam just right, but once I had that all figured out I knew that I would love the experience of pulling a great espresso each and every morning. This is not for the low maintenance type of person, but if you enjoy the process of making something as much as you do the final product, then this machine is for you. And you will be able to pass it on to your kids and their kids too. A really great buy!!

Mine, stopped frothing milk, in about 40 days after I had purchased it here from Amazon.com; but, it was somewhat easy to work with DeLonghi , at the toll free number that comes with the machine. We tried a number of things; and, when nothing resolved the problem, DeLonghi had Fedex pick up the machine from my home (they even sent me a special box to pack the unit in) and gave me a choice of two service outlets they would have it repaired at under warranty. At, the time, this was a new unit/model; and service parts had to be specially ordered --- so, it took approximately three months before the machine was delivered back to me. Any time I phoned DeLonghi, during this process, they has a status report as to what was going on; and, as it was quite a while that the machine was not in use by me, DeLonghi , even extended my warranty by the amount of time I had to go without the machine. Since it's repair, over 5 months now, the machine has been working just fine (and, I use it several times a day, 7 days a week).Good machine; and, good product support from DeLonghi, in my opinion.

ENA 9 One Touch, Jura's slimmest One Touch machine, make latte macchiato and cappuccino at the touch of a button. It's perfect for smaller households who expect nothing but the best. I got the Jura ENA 9 as Christmas gift; at first I was very excited about the machine; it made good coffee, and after I figured out what milk I had to use, I was satisfied and happy. However, about a month after having this piece and having played around with the customized settings, I experienced that the latte's weren't as good anymore and the coffee tasted a little weak. The foam was dissolving after only 10 minutes and the last shot of coffee was more brown water than creamy coffee. I tried different beans, different settings, and again a different milk brand, only to see it is not getting any better. At last I went to a store that is selling the machines, to see if I can get more insight of what could be wrong. I was told I may use too much water and I am better of reducing the amount of water from about 5oz to about 2.5 oz. As for the milk, they said I should try to find the right brand and stick with it.So bottom line, I did return the machine as I think, the customer should be able to expect for $1,500 an espresso experience that lasts longer and gives you more satisfaction when you start playing around to make this your own. Plus the JURA customer service is not helpful, very rude at times and all they do is to ask you to send it in for repair. Well, I guess this is a nice gesture, but it does not help since they ask you to keep all the parts, plus they are not seeing what you are seeing and thus they barley fully understood my issue. Again, think twice if you spend…

This machine is terrific. Expensive, but terrific. The features are convenient and very well thought out. It can be customized for 6 different users - each with 9 drinks. Most importantly, it makes great, very hot coffee. I have had this now for 4 months and I could not be happier. This model is a quantum leap over the Talea (see my review) and Primea, both of which I have owned.

I bought my espresso machine a little over a year now and have never looked back...It all started when my daughter came to visit and took me to that coffee place(I won't name it but cups are over $5 each!!)and had my first taste of espresso!!!then after also seeing the alton brown(good eats) episode on making espresso yourself started the spark in me to learn about the different espresso machines out there on the retail market(and there are a lot of them)One of the MANY things that led me to this machine is the frothed milk feature where instead of frothing a pitcher of milk at a time and wasting whats left, you have a separate container that holds the milk that detaches and stores in fridge till next cup....a VERY handy feature!!!and the quality of product and ease of setting different features(all explained in instruction manuel which can be a bit overwelming but take it slow and keep book close by till you can memorize certain steps)The money i am saving alone has earned my cost back already if you figure average $3 bucks a cup compared to the other store (star who???)and no you won't get a cup to taste like theirs but i am pretty close after experimenting with different coffee creamers and sweetners....The ease of cleaning the inside (which to me should be done every few weeks) and the automatic notifier(which you set to your own water hardness with test strip enclosed)for the descaling process (with fluid you buy separate,(Durgol brand is best)which averages me with my own…

This is the first espresso machine I have owned, so I won't be comparing it to other machines. I've had the machine for about 5-6 months now, using it once or twice nearly every day with no problems.I have been drinking espresso for a long time and I appreciate a well-balanced, properly extracted, silky crema and rich cup of gold. This machine is quick and consistent with every cup. With the touch of a button, you can go from bean to drinking within seconds. I prefer heavy thick espresso, so I keep it at it's finest setting for a powerful cup. There are two methods to set the potency: one to adjust the coarseness of the grind and one to adjust how much to brew in each cup. You can use pre-ground as well, however, I have not tried it.The steamer works fantastically and takes mere seconds to warm up. The design makes a great foam on top for a perfect cappuccino or latte. It's easy to keep clean and it is very easy to set up right out of the box. The brushed finish leaves no fingerprints and the steam wand wipes clean with a damp rag very easily. The machine is built sturdy and is very low profile, which is great for smaller kitchens lacking counter-space. You can adjust the height of the spout for different sized cups. The full operation (grinding, tamping, brewing, and disposing) is not loud at all compared to some machines I have heard.Since the machine is relatively small in size, it does not hold a massive quantity of beans, the water tank does have to be filled often (but it…

New from Krups, the XP7225 with its patented technology will be the MOST COMPACT fully automatic espresso machine on the market. The XP7225 was designed to be simple to operate and easy to maintain. Coffee experts agree, the ideal process to achieve maximum flavor without over extraction is to grind and brew under high pressure within a short period of time. An automatic espresso machine combines all the necessary steps to brew a perfect espresso and simplifies the process. The XP7225 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is 30-50% smaller then most fully automatics available. Fully Automatic: With a simple touch of a button, the XP7225 grinds the beans and brews delicious espresso with ease. By combining the thermoblock, brewing system and hydraulic jack into a single piece, Krups creates a fully automatic machine that is 30-50% smaller and…
We like the small footprint and it looks great on the counter, and very easy to set up and use. Easy to refill beans and water and clean- though we fill the water more frequently then I would have thought. There is a temperature adjustment which impressed my dad who has an older Jura machine which doesn't get as hot. (and is somewhat more involved to use). My husband and my dad both agree it makes great coffee and espresso with nice crema on top.The disadvantages: it is pretty loud (probably the grinding), and second there is not enough room to place a tall travel mug under the nozzle. We tried to remove the drip tray and the cup did fit but at the end of the cycle we were greeted by a pool of water coming out the front which would normally collect in the drip tray. (Of the machines I looked at I didn't find any that would fit a travel mug.)we have had it about 2-3 months now and I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Of note we have not used the milk frothing mech. We did buy a Nespresso Aeroccino machine and after 2 machines, neither lasted more then 10 uses before they stopped frothing.

With the Platinum Vision you can dose, and brew your espresso, all at the touch of a button. One of the most fun features of the machine is the programming function. Here is a quick preview into the personalization Gaggia offers: Touch Screen Features: Show text or use icons; Individual Beverage Settings for Espresso, Coffee, Long Coffee (Prebrew--set to off, med, strong. Aroma--mild, medium, strong, preground [decaf or flavored are most popular for preground]. Temperature settings--low, medium, high. Volume--adjust by plus (+) or minus (-) depending on how tall or short you want your drink to be.); Time/Date settings (Set the machine to turn on up to 3 times a day, 7 days a week. For example, Monday--6am, 12pm, 6pm, Friday--6am, 1pm, 9pm and Saturday--9am, 6pm, 10pm. Stand by mode has 4 different settings. Adjust the clock by hour, minute and AM/PM. Adjust the date format-- For instance, it would be set differently in Europe than it would in the United States.); Machine Settings (Program…
I've had this machine for a few days now and I absolutely love it. It by far trumps the quality of local shops and Starbucks (not that they make quality). The options on the machine allow you to create your own drink in your own flavor. The worst thing about this machine is how easy it is and how much you'll end up drinking. It's just too easy to press a button and boom, delicious espresso. From off to espresso in no time flat!If you want your drink fast, look no further than this machine. Going from completely off to drink ready takes about 1 minute. You can brew in no time so this machine was made for speed.TouchscreenI can't say it's greatly responsive. Obviously it's expensive and new so you want to be nice with it but that screen takes some hard pressure. Maybe they built it tough to last but you can't just tap it. You have to jab it sometimes. Not a complaint really. It seems like a strong screen.DrinksThere are three drink options: espresso, coffee, and long coffee. You can control the amount of water, temperature, aroma, flavor, and strength. It's crazy. Once you get down you're favorite flavor though, it's just a simple button press. I like a caffe corretto once in a while so I like that you can throw in pre-ground decaf for a one time cup and then just go back to your regular settings.SteamingThe wand is very articulated and easy to clean. The steam comes quick and stays consistently hot. You can steam milk fast enough to make yourself a cappuccino in under 2 minutes.…

First off we use the heck out of this. No one would believe how many cups we make for home use. The first machine had some kind of catastophy after 3 or 4 months. I couldn't get anyone from importica or Whole latte love (same physical building, but they denied to me they are the same company) to even return my calls. I was willing to pay for service, buy a new part (the brew group)...anything to get it working. They totally ignored me (I forgot about the refurb I got from Whole latte love first...it leaked all over the counter the first day. Returned that and bought from Amazon) so this was technically my second machine.Anyway, after calling Amazon and just asking for a number since no one was calling me back after a week at importica, they totally stepped up and replaced my machine. This third one has been working great. We have had it 6 months and made 2348 cups. (I told you we use this thing). So, it took me three tries, but thanks to Amazon (and them alone) I am a happy camper.Three stars for the item, but one star added for Amazons awesome service. They are my favorite online retailer.Stay away from whole latte love, they are just not a company I would recommend. They seem like what folks imagine when they think of bad used car salesman, sort of shady. That was my impression since when they told me "you have to call importica" and when I told them Importica is in the same building as their headquarters, (exact same address) the guy was playing dumb like it was news…

I just purchased this machine from Amazon and have been incredibly impressed with the build quality, features, and quality of the coffee produced. You can't beat this machine in terms of the product design, multitudes of modes of operation, and elimination of cleaning chores often associated with fully automatic home machines.Unboxing the product is your first clue to the level of detail the manufacturer paid to the product experience. As is custom with Gaggia products, this machine was designed and built at the Milan factory -- something that will not escape you from the early moments of opening the box. Once the shipping box is opened, you simply remove the outer box to reveal the inside box, which has two convenient long handles to make it easy for you to lift the machine out of the shipping box. Inside, the sealed inner box contains your unit, with prominent serial number markings on the inner box and the "Made in Milan, Italy" (naturally in Italian) stamped proudly. You'll be surprised with the highly durable construction, in particular, the stainless steel finish which seems to be impervious to finger prints in my usage so far -- and the high quality hinges that reveal the inner workings of the machine: the brew group, drip tray, and grounds drawer. One unique feature of this machine is that the brew group is fully removable for easy maintenance and cleaning. Given that o-rings over time will break down and are a common service issue on home machines from other…

The La Pavoni Professional sixteen cup in brass features a 38 oz. boiler, and internal thermostat. This lever model is steam piston operated, has solid brass gold plated boilers, and a separate cappuccino spout. Includes a 1-year warranty and demo DVD.
I owned one of these for three years, and agree with the only other reviewer that this item is only for those who take joy in fiddling with the many variables of grind, pull speed, preheating, and coffee bean choice. If you don't want to put in all the extra effort to coax performance from a beautiful piece of Italian engineering, save your money and buy something automated. That said, I thought a potential buyer might want to read about some of these idiosyncracies. First, no matter what you do, the first shot you pull will taste bad. Preheat, pull hot water for the first shot--nothing will change the fact that the first shot doesn't taste good. I resigned myself to wasting that first shot.Second, if you want to pull shots soon after each other, you'll find out that this unit does not have a pressure release mechanism. So when you unseat the filter holder soon after pulling the shot, there's still pressure against the grounds, which will now *poof* blow back outward onto your fingers and the machine. You'll get used to knowing when it's been "long enough", and in a pinch you can *carefully* ease the holder out, slowly letting the pressure to escape. With a pump espresso maker, you can pull "lungo" or "ristretto" shots, which have (respectively) larger or smaller shot sizes. Since the amount of grounds stays the same, this means more watery or stronger. But with this unit you have to live with the pull size implicit in the amount of water moved by…

If you're reading this, then I'm betting you're serious about getting something in this price range. Yes, it does what it says it does. Yes, the other reviews are correct about everything. But here is what makes this special.I no longer have make coffee myself. I just push a button. nice.BUT, it seems like almost every super-auto doesn't heat up the milk enough. My Xelsis get the milk to about 105F. I like it at 150-160F. So, easy enough to fix but takes another 30 secs. I have to push the 'special' (yeah, that's what it's called)button to get the option for MORE hot milk (not hotter just more) as the drink options don't allow for enough milk vs. coffee (for my preference) and then once again for steam. But the steaming wand is ready within a second and the process of getting my mildly warm latte from 105 to 150 is about 25 seconds, which is outstanding! So, I do recommend this Super-A to anyone that wants a machine to remember their preferences for many people (6)and have the option to change it easily. You will have to tweak your settings a lot before you get it just right. So many variables but the menu system is so easy to use you really don't have to worry. I'm drinking my Xelsis latte right now in fact!

This coffee maker exceeds all my expectations. It's quick to program the drinks to your specifications. Machine is easy to use and even easier to clean. It is worth every penny.Update: Thank goodness for Amazon. Jura has no customer service. One week after purchase the machine started having trouble making espresso. I tried all their troubleshooting methods; increasing the grind, cleaning, and descaling. By week two, the machine could only steam milk. I called Jura and left multiple messages. I also emailed them. After no response I submitted a return to Amazon. They took back this expensive paperweight, paid for shipping, and gave me a full refund. Again I say, thank goodness for Amazon. I still haven't heard a word from Jura. Bottom line: this machine is a lemonAll instructions were followed exactly according to the manual. Defective machines happen, but ignoring them loses customers.
